A New Year begins much the same way it ends. A reflection of time, either looking backward at what has passed or forward into what’s to come. For the majority of people the New Year begins with a resolution of goals to meet in the coming twelve months. As we found conclusion to the year passed by examining what we accomplished, what daily tasks filled out the time, or what may have gone wrong or right we find our satisfaction in the stillness of hope into our future. Because no matter what resolutions did or did not get met prior to January 1st we have an unmarked calendar ahead of us.
So much happens within the 365 days of a year; a newborn life can be conceived and birthed within that time! It’s incredible to think back on the way some years begin compared to the way those same ones end. 2015 for some was hard and weary, they were relieved to see it go. 2015 brought others unspeakable joy and peace. There are years that go by where nothing eventful in either direction seems to happen, it’s just a year passed and a time over. The year isn’t like a lottery where your luck of numbers brings the good fortune but instead it's ever-changing for all of us will celebrate in success and weep in grief. We each behold those events differently but we all hold hope the same.
No matter how 2015 ended or even 2016 begins we each find a hope in what’s ahead! You no longer have yesterday and tomorrow is no guarantee but you have today! Today can be what you make it. I know you’ve heard that before, it’s practically the motto for the month of January. Each major retailer pushing it in your face just with different effects. But, today is full of possibilities for what your heart desires. That doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen and your today won’t result in being a total disaster. As with life, unforeseen and negative things happen and we can only choose to move forward through them. We value our success, our dreams achieved and our goals met only because we’ve learned to appreciate the contrast when they are not. Not every day will be successful, not every day will be the best. But that shouldn’t keep us from trying to make the next that way.
Our society has placed such a value on doing and being a part of everything; there isn’t just one social media site there is Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. There isn’t just one workout routine to do, there is cardio, yoga, weights, etc. Within almost every area of life you have been bombarded with multiple of everything. Life is no longer simple and our day’s hope is pressure cooked to be filled with too much. However, when we reflect on the time we have and the vast amount of change that can take place because of that time, the lid can be lifted to release the pressure and find the satisfaction in today. Simplify your mind to understand that our today doesn’t need to be filled with every task on our dream sheet. Focus on the day in front of you, however you want to slice it up and divide the 24 hours within is up to you. Task your day with hope and success of your future goals and you never know what will come and how quickly.
Leave the yesterday where it can no longer be a part of your tomorrow and be the best at whatever you do in your today!
